REMARKABLE CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE

In 2011; it earned the "20th Century Heritage" label from the French Ministry of Culture. It was chosen among properties in the Occitan region to be part of an awareness campaign on striking contemporary architecture. The Villa Vents de Sable has recently been awarded the "Architecture Contemporaine Remarquable " (Remarkable Contemporary Architecture) label by the French Ministry of Culture. 

For over 20 years, the Architectural Heritage department of the French Ministry of Culture has been working to showcase significant architectural achievements of the 20th and 21st centuries. The official label “Patrimoine du XXe siècle” (20th century Heritage), created in 1999, was replaced in 2019 by a new label called “Architecture Contemporaine Remarquable” (Remarkable Contemporary architecture) . It is awarded to buildings less than 100 years old, considered remarkable from an aesthetic or a technical point of view. Over 1,500 buildings throughout France have earned this prestigious label. 

To raise the profile of the Remarkable Contemporary Architecture programme, and raise public awareness of the richness of a heritage which is often overlooked, the French Ministry of Culture has launched a campaign inviting photographers to share their vision of these contemporary architectural marvels.

The aim is to build up a high-quality photo collection which publishers and exhibition organisers can use to promote excellence in contemporary French architecture, and to enrich the documentary database of the French Ministry of Culture.

La Villa Vents de Sable was proud to receive the following message from the French government: “The Ministry of Culture will be pleased to offer you the new Architecture Contemporaine Remarquable” plaque which is currently being produced.”
